As we approach the new year it seems to me that I am going to spend a great part of 2008 either preparing for surgery, in hospital or recovering! Once the heart surgery has been carried out and I have spent some months recovering I expect to be told that I am well enough to go back into hospital for my proposed kidney transplant!!! This does not exactly fill me with anticipation, but I truly hope that, at the end I will be stronger and healthier and able to resume a 'normal' life.
Just don't let anyone tell you that diabetes is a 'little problem' with your sugar.Sunday, 30 December 2007

Today I have read that open-heart surgery is perhaps just one option for the treatment of my disease. Apparently the NHS is studying the details of a new form of angioplasty, which is much less invasive and often more effective than the proposed bypass. I don't know if this might be appropriate for me, or if it is even available but I intend asking for more information when I see my cardiac team in January.
